After visiting Scotland for a summer I departed through the Edinburgh Waverley Station. I was amazed by the complexity of the ornate ceiling and thought it would make a great portfolio project to dive into Zbrush Detailing & Unreal Engine’s Lumen.
I was more interested in creating a custom ornate design for the ceiling rather than a 100% copy. I also wanted to switch the period to the 1960s. After breaking down current reference photos, I realized the combination of modern technology and 19th-century architecture did not match.
All pillars, windows, and ornate ceilings were sculpted in Zbrush using Dynamesh, baked using the high-to-low-poly method, and textured in substance painter. All floors and hallways were textured with one texture atlas.
This project pushed me to create a larger, more complex environment while keeping in mind project organization and exercising my conceptual skills.
